Slavomír Dluhý, designer / architect

Slavomír Dluhý was born in 1964 in Kežmarok, Slovakia. His studies at a secondary school of wood Industry were focused on visual arts, more specifically on construction and design of furniture and interior. He continued his studies at the Technical University in Zvolen at the Department of Design. During his studies he also worked at various ateliers for visual arts and architecture.

He gained his first work experience at prominent Slovak furniture companies where he worked as an industrial designer of products designated for serial production.

In 1991, he established his own atelier with focus on interior and product design. As the atelier developed his work later included architectural projects.
The experience gained during several internships abroad (Italy, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia) is reflected in his innovative proposals and inspiring ideas which give his work a challenging and remarkably unique character.

Currently, as a designer and authorised architect, he focuses on projects for both public and private sectors such as:

  • residences
  • hotels
  • shopping areas
  • restaurants
  • museums and exhibitions
  • hospital areas
  • banks
  • offices

In his realisations, he seeks to connect creative processes of discovering and unpredictability with deep understanding of function and use of materials.

While applying new materials and technological innovations, he also aims to open the gates for visual artists who are free to incorporate works of art into interiors and architecture.

During the period of over 20 years of creative work, Slavomír Dluhý realised more than 70 projects of his own, out of which several were awarded.

Currently, he lives and works in Prague, Bratislava and Košice.
